Willie had to call off earlier in the week and unfortunately Marion and Jim had to call off on the day. This still left a group of 8 consisting of Sheila, Mary, Pamela S, Moira C, Moira S, Crawford, Isobel and Alistair.

The sun was shining as we left the car park, and unlike many walks the cairn at the top of the hill was visible in the distance.

The navigation on this walk is not a challenge but the steady uphill soon starts and continues all the way to the top.

A few rest stops on the way were taken at strategic points to shelter from the easterly wind that was increasing as height was gained.

Before too long the top was in sight with a final steep section climbed to reach the small boulder field that protects the summit. Dropping down slightly a sheltered, well earned lunch was taken. Moira S even managed to get a brief power nap. (though not the most comfortable!)

Extensive views from the top, though wet weather could be seen over in the west heading our way.

Care was taken on the descent and thankfully we were soon sheltered from the worst of the wind.

Having seen plenty of dog walkers on the way up, we stopped to chat to a walker with her young black cat on a lead!

Our car load had to head back to Edinburgh but Isobel, Alistair, Moira S and Pamela headed to Biggar for tea/coffee/cakes.

Thanks,
Crawford.
