Ben Lawers

15 Marauders plus Cosmo set off from the new car park.

There was a stark contrast in the weather. Last year we started in cloud but were soon in sunshine with cloud inversion. This year was dark skies, low cloud all the way. It was not long before the rain came. Waterproofs went on and stayed on the for the rest of the day. We all made it to the shoulder between Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas for 1st lunch. It was raining quite heavily. The sensible party decided that as there was literally nothing to see it was sensible to head back down on the good path.

The rest headed up to the summit of Ben Lawers.

As predicted there was no view. Back to the shoulder and another split. Some wanted to add Beinn Ghlas to the days summits some felt the new path down was too good to miss.

We ended in the bun shop in Killin for an excellent afternoon tea.

Lots of memories of David were shared. We remembered his achievements as a walker, writer and organiser and what was most remarkable was the way he focussed on improving the lives of his friends. The marauders are just one example of his generosity.
