Whitewisp Hill

On a bright day, 8 marauders and Cosmo set off for Whitewisp Hill.

Probably one of the rare occasions where this mighty mountain (or bump on the ridge between Innerdownie and Tarmangie Hill as those with limited imagination might see it) has been the object of an expedition. It turned out to be one of those hills which there is some debate about which grassy lump is in fact the summit. There is a cairn, but Graham reported that his GPS gadget indicated that another grassy lump was in fact higher. Hill tickers made sure they visited both. One thing we all agreed on was the view was exceptional - all the Southern Highlands were visible, basking in the sun.

On the way down it was definitively proved that the path marked on the map and the wood through which it was supposed to pass did not exist and had not existed for some time; but is any walk complete without a good yomp? We eventually joined a path that did exist and made our way back with only a fallen tree and a barbed wire fence to cross.

The day had a perfect end with homemade cakes at Jan and Graham’s.

Looking forward to Sarah’s Pentland trip on Thursday 11th.

Best wishes Mike
